How Do I Get Food?

Eligibility

  • Our patrons come from the surrounding area of our church home at 2727 Crawford in Northwest Evanston (Skokie, Evanston, Wilmette, Chicago).
  • They come from the ranks of the chronically poor, the working poor, and those who are finding themselves in need for the first time.
  • We do not have income or residency limitations.
  • Anyone is welcome.
  • Patrons are allowed to come once a week.

Registration

We are a member church of GCFD and required to keep records. When a person comes for the first time, our hospitality team asks them to complete a registration form. We ask for their name, address, phone, and birthdate and how many are in their family. We do ask for identification, such as a drivers license.

There are no requirements to receiving food. Once they have registered for the first time they are put into our database. Each time they come all they do is present their identification. We double check each time to make sure that their address or number of family members is the same or if there is a change.

Sometimes the number of people changes, such as when a grandparent includes children and grandchildren.

The information we collect is kept private and we don't share it with anyone. It is not sold.

Benefits for Everyone

° Hillsiders are given opportunities to practice what their faith teaches--service to others is serving God.
° Patrons develop friendships with others at the Pantry.
° Partner stores know that their leftover food will be going to people who need it.
° Everyone finds support and help from our church community.
