Ways You Can Contribute
Volunteer Your Time
Volunteers support the food pantry in many ways –
- sorting and stocking delivered food items
- inside the pantry bagging food for the families
- in the registration area welcoming new and returning patrons
- distributing food to the patrons
- directing traffic in the parking lot
If you are able to spare some time, whether once a week, a couple times a month or even once a month, or if you are already volunteering and want to add more time or make a change, please contact our volunteer coordinator.
Please note that we cannot accommodate drop in volunteers. To volunteer your time contact our coordinator Susan Gottlieb. She will discuss your volunteer opportunities with you.
You may donate shelf-stable, canned and/or packaged, new food items to our food pantry. Hillside Food Pantry Suggested Donations Flier – Current 2018
Donate Through Hillside Church
You may donate to the Hillside Food Pantry by writing a check to Hillside Food Pantry and mail it to our to our address at Hillside Church, 2727 Crawford, Evanston, IL 60201. And by the way, you are ALWAYS welcome to join us any Sunday morning at 10:45AM!
Donate Through Greater Chicago Food Depository
Your financial contributions make our access to partnering with the Chicago Food Depository very helpful. The GCFD helps our local pantry by offering many non-perishable food items that can be purchased at a significantly lesser amount, stretching our donation dollars further. Our regular monthly orders cost approximately $850. We order perishable and non-perishable food items weekly, which consists of 3-4 pallets of food weighing 3,000-4,000 pounds. That’s a lot of food for our patrons!
Volunteers are also welcome at GCFD. For every hour a volunteer works, it adds $5 to our financial account. Volunteering there would help Hillside too!
