Volunteer Your Time

Volunteers support the food pantry in many ways -

• picking up food from donor stores and the Greater Chicago Food Depository
• unloading the food that was picked up, sorting the food items, and then stocking the shelves
• setting up the parking lot for the patrons' cars
• inside the pantry bagging food for the families
• in the registration area welcoming new and returning patrons
• helping patrons with bags
• directing traffic in the parking lot

Product Donations

You may donate shelf-stable, canned and/or packaged, new food items to our food pantry.

DONATION DROP-OFF:
Tuesday: 9:30 AM-12 PM
Wednesday: 4-6 PM
Friday: 11 AM-1 PM
Saturday: 2-4 PM

Examples that are much needed would be:

• Packages: cereals, granola bars, spaghetti, macaroni, rice
• Packaged processed foods such as Hamburger Helper, Macaroni and Cheese
• Canned: tuna, salmon, peanut butter, jelly and jam, soups, fruits and vegetables

Donate Through Hillside Church

You may donate to the Hillside Food Pantry by writing a check to Hillside Church and note "Food Pantry" in the memo portion of your check. If you are a Hillside member, just place along with your regular offering in the plate when you worship. If you are not a Hillside member, you can send your check to our address at Hillside Church, 2727 Crawford, Evanston, IL 60201. And by the way, you are ALWAYS welcome to join us any Sunday morning!

Donate Through Greater Chicago Food Depository

Your contributions through check or through our convenient, online agents (Google or Paypal) make our access to partnering with the Chicago Food Depository very helpful. The GCFD helps our local pantry by offering many grocery items that can be purchased at a significantly lesser amount, stretching our donation dollars further. Our regular monthly orders cost approximately $500-$600. Each time we order we pick up 1-2 pallets of food that weigh 2,000-2,500 pounds. That's a lot of food for our patrons!

We can send volunteers to work at the GCFD. For every hour a volunteer works, it adds $5 to our financial account. Volunteering there would help Hillside too!
